Dr. Carolina Castillo Crimm was born and raised in Mexico City. She holds degrees from the University of Miami, Texas Tech and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. Among her work is her prize-winning De León: A Tejano Family History (2004) . She has also won numerous teaching awards including the prestigious Piper Award as one of the best teachers in Texas. She is a popular and acclaimed speaker. She has recently retired and been honored as a Professor Emeritus in History from Sam Houston State University She lives in Huntsville, Texas with her husband, Jack.
